Malangwa Municipality, Sarlahi is 25 km south from the East-West Highway under the Madhesh Province of Nepal. Malangwa is believed to have been named after the local Malang Baba place, who is worshiped by both Hindu and Muslim communities. This municipality is located at 26.8627-degree north latitude and 85.5561 east longitude.
Malangwa Municipality, which was established on Fagun 18, 2043 B.S., as the then Nagar Panchayat, is the first municipality of Sarlahi District. According to the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal on 25 Baisakh, 2071 B.S. the Musaili Village Development Committee. was included in this municipality. According to the decision of 27 February 2073, the then Gamharia, Khutouna and Bhandsar VDCs were also included in this municipality. Currently 12 ward comities are under this municipality.
According to the national census of 2068, there are about 8020 households with the population of 46,516. This municipality, which is also the headquarters of Sarlahi district, is located in the central part of Madhesh province. Mixed caste society and the plain fertile land is the specific features of the Municipality.
This municipality is bounded by Brahmapuri Rural Municipality and Sonbarsa Region of India in the east, Chakarghatta, Kaudena and Bishnu Rural Municipality in the west, Kabilasi Municipality is in the north and Sitamarhi District of Bihar state, India is in the southern part. The main commercial gateway to Sonbarsa and Bhediyahi gateway are located in this municipality with its connection to Sitamarhi District of India,
Rajdevi Mata Temple, Bhagwati Temple, Jhilmiliya Mai, Shiva Temple, Ramjanaki, Radhakrishna and Bodhidevi Temple of Hindu community and Jilaniya Mosque, Raja Mosque of Muslim community and Malang Baba Sthal for both communities are religious places. Including these, Musaili Big Pond, Sibha Sagar, Janasagar pounds are tourist area. Sarlahi Campus is the highest education institute up to postgraduate level. There are 22 Community Schools, 32 Institutional schools and 10 Madrasahs, Regional Hospital, Sagarmatha Chaudhary Eye Hospital and 10 health institutions are in this Municipality.
There are three big field, covered hall, new bus park and hat bazaars in this municipality. Rice, wheat and pulse crops, vegetable cultivation, livestock and fish farming are the main products in this municipality. There is a problem of water freezing in this municipality during the rainy season.
